DrumAddon for reittec polisher - 170mm Kit from reitter_m
thingiverse
I was printing the 170mm version when I decided to improvise using a leftover motor from another project. However, I soon realized that I couldn't obtain the IKEA Glas Drum due to the Corona Lockdown. So, I came up with a basic drum and lid design using the original gear, nothing too complicated. But things got more interesting when I discovered that the drum's weight was missing, causing my homemade version to constantly jump gears. To address this issue, I added a rubber cloth band and a 12V DC computer fan for extra cooling. This turned out to be necessary, as I wanted to avoid overloading the motor with excessive heat generated by the added resistance. With the silent copper fan in place, the motor now runs at a constant ~35-40° Celcius. I have included the files for the drum and lid; they are quite large due to my tendency to go overboard with polygon designs. Perhaps I should work on that habit. Despite this, I think it's a great design from Reittec - well thought out and easy to assemble. I had a blast working with it! And I'm thrilled not to have to sand everything by hand anymore. Best regards, Kara
