A beautifully crafted limestone slab depicts four pivotal moments in the life of the Buddha, beginning with Māyādevī's prophetic dream at top right. Above her is a gathering of dīkpāla-s, spiritual guardians who interpret the dream and unravel its mysteries. At bottom left, the new-born Buddha is presented to the sacred caitya of his people, the Śākyas, while in the lower right corner, another assembly of dīkpāla-s bears witness to this miraculous birth.
