Hopefully final version: Rather than employing a DWV sewer pipe, this design utilizes a 1/2-inch-thick wall pipe, relying on minimal infill material to achieve a lightweight structure. This combination should result in a stiff and lightweight overall construction. A full-length pipe on a 26-inch diameter by 16-inch deep drum is expected to resonate at approximately 30 Hz, while cutting the pipe at the flare should reduce the resonant frequency to around 40 Hz. If the resonant frequency exceeds this range, it's worth questioning whether playing a 26-inch bass drum is even worthwhile.
