DRP Reflector - Detect, Reflect, Protect!
grabcad
The challenge is minimizing encounters between animals and humans along high-traffic roadways. The innovative solution, devised by FIRST Lego League Robotics Team NX36T, is the DRP Reflector. This device utilizes an IR motion sensor to detect animals on the roadway and emits ultrasonic sounds to deter them from crossing. Additionally, it alerts drivers through flashing LED lights. Future enhancements may include transmitting warning signals to vehicle GPS or in-dash systems via infrared signal. The DRP Reflector prototype is crafted using a 3D printer, featuring components such as a solar panel for power, an IR motion sensor, an ultrasonic sound emitter, LED warning lights, and an Arduino control board. In the future, it may also incorporate an infrared LED to transmit warnings to compatible vehicle systems. The team designed the DRP Reflector, while students modeled it using OnShape on an iPad Mini.
