Drop Spindle Holder
thingiverse
My partner has a strong fascination with fibre arts and among the larger tools and devices used to process wool and other materials she owns a few relatively small hand or drop spindles that needed a place to be stored. This is my first design attempt so although it's straightforward I'm sure there are areas where it could have been improved. Nonetheless, it printed without incident and everything fit together as planned, with the end result successfully holding spindles just as intended. And hey, 3D printing is all about creating exceptionally specialized items. I'd like to modify it at some point so that I can pick it up by the knob on top without worrying that the entire thing will simply fall off. Some wood filament could also be a fun option. I highly doubt someone could fit a full eight spindles in this without them colliding with each other. It should accommodate spindles with relatively wide bases. The '5cm shaft extension' piece can be stretched out if you want to fit taller spindles. The one shown is 15cm or six inches, and doubling the extension will get you to eight inches.
