Drone Timer (PIDFlight ESP32)
thingiverse
What is this?\r\n======\r\nIt's a timer designed specifically for FPV drones and whoops. This device helps you track your lap times with ease.\r\n\r\nHow does it work?\r\n======\r\nThe timer uses the video transmission signal from your drone to estimate its position, eliminating the need for any additional hardware on the drone itself. You'll first calibrate the signal within a designated "gate" and then use the device to track your lap times.\r\n\r\nMake one:\r\n======\r\nPrint the case and order the necessary parts. Be sure to superglue the switch slider components together. The two teardrop-shaped holes require filling with a translucent material, which will diffuse the ESP32 T8 LEDs. You can achieve this using a 3D pen and translucent PLA, as seen in one of the photos.\r\n\r\nFor more details, check out https://github.com/eried/pidflight-lap-firmware.\r\n\r\n### ** Parts Needed **\r\n\r\n* ESP32 TTGO T8: Order from this link https://s.click.aliexpress.com/e/_d6sfNUb \r\n* RX5808: Available at this link https://s.click.aliexpress.com/e/_dUaM1rh\r\n* 2x 4.7K resistors\r\n* Small battery (optional): Check out this link i.e.: https://aliexpi.com/ZSsn\r\n* Buzzer (optional): Order from this link https://s.click.aliexpress.com/e/_d75AAWT\r\n\r\n### ** Software Used **\r\n\r\nThis timer utilizes PIDFlight firmware and app, which are available for several platforms. I've adapted the firmware to run on the ESP32. In the future, it could potentially work standalone, using Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and the SD capabilities of the microcontroller.\r\n\r\n*Demo:* Watch this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CKgIOPRDrkA
