Drok Meter Electric Box Cover Mounting Plate

Drok Meter Electric Box Cover Mounting Plate

I needed a way to mount one of my Drok AC Volt/Amp meters for my Musical Tesla Coil and decided using an off-the-shelf electric box was the best option since I was already using it for its power switch and outlet. So, I fired up OpenSCAD and created this solution. I added an adjustable "spacer" thickness for the plate as my box had a hump in the back for a ground connection and so the meter needed some clearance. If you're using a plastic electric box, you should be able to reduce that setting, perhaps all the way to zero. The dimensions are standard electric box cover plate size, but I moved the mounting holes a few thousandths out from the standard to give just a little more room for the mounting tabs of the meter. It's a very tight press-fit with the meter, but it snaps in place rather nicely. The screw holes are designed for standard 6-32 flathead screws. I used 1-inch long screws on mine, which you may need to adjust for your particular box. Make sure to place the screws into the plate before snapping the meter in, as they sit just under the outer face bezel of the meter. That worked well, as it keeps them from falling out and yet doesn't interfere with tightening.
