This is an ongoing project of a RC car that I've been working on for some time now. I finally bought a 3D printer and wanted to see how far I could get printing my own parts to make my RC pan car idea come to life. I bought an M3D printer and noticed I was limited in size, so I tried to do a design that will work for it's size. I noticed everyone else has larger printers - I'm waiting for my larger printer to arrive. You can see the stages I went through to get to this area. It's a good starter project and I hope it inspires someone to go even further with it. Print Settings Printer: M3D Rafts: Doesn't Matter Supports: Doesn't Matter Resolution: Full solid at low should still work Infill: full Notes: This is already the size it is supposed to be for the 1/16 motor. The mounting holes have been measured out. I guess you could scale it up for a 1/10, but I'm not sure how you would measure the new hole - if you've been doing this awhile then it should be no problem. I left the bottom of the mount blank because depending on your setup you can drill holes anywhere you need them so I made it thick to just butt drill and place. You can use any gear set you want; I just created this gear set for a weaker motor. In the pictures, you can see I used different gears. Post-Printing Motor and axle Housing. Tie Rod Upper Control bar Lower control bar Upper and lower assembled Upper, lower and tie-rod assembled Motor axle in place Two part body assembled Two part with motor Full lower setup. How I Designed This Design process: I drew out most of my ideas on paper and measured the existing prototype I had laying around; I kept measuring the points until I got figures to work with in the 3D designing program.
