Dripless Mug

This cup has a groove revolved around it to prevent rings forming on surfaces that it sits on. How it works is when someone takes a drink and a drip of liquid rolls down the side of the mug it will be caught by the groove instead of pooling at the base of the mug. First we designed it on auto cad Mechanical and drew a basic blueprint of what it would look like with dimensions. Next we took the blueprint from auto cad and used those dimension to draw a 3D model on inventor. It took some time to get the desired handle we want so that it would be the height of the mug while still bowing out enough to accommodate a hand nicely. Then we had an issue where the groove wasn’t quite revolving around the mug equally, and then we had to change the dimensions and put an axis to revolve it around. The curvature of the mug was difficult and tedious, but all we had to do was make multiple planes and draw circles on them and use the loft command. Overall, the Dripless mug looks great and can change the way the world drinks.
