A curious caterpillar of Euthrix potatoria, also known as the drinker moth larva, was spotted resting comfortably on a signpost at RSPB Bempton Cliffs in North Yorkshire. I first noticed this fascinating creature early in the year and thought it would make an excellent subject, despite not being directly related to archaeology. Thankfully, the creature proved to be quite still, allowing me to capture its likeness through photography. However, the hairs and spikes on its body did not model as well as I had hoped.
