Drink Can/Bottle Holder for Crutches
thingiverse
People on crutches now have an easy way to carry their drinks along with them, thanks to this crutch-mounted cup holder! Scientists prove that beer and other alcoholic beverages aid in healing... probably! It fits US standard 12oz soda cans and long-necked bottles flawlessly. Works perfectly with aluminum crutches featuring a 19mm outer diameter and about 117.5mm pole distance from center to center. ABS printing is recommended due to its remarkable strength, and don't forget to add supports during the process! Printing at a thickness of 1.5mm and infill density of 20% will yield amazing results too. As one navigates life with crutches, at least they won't be left feeling dehydrated anymore! UPDATE: 05/01/2015 The beer crutch holder now has a robust version - Beercrutch-robust.stl. It retains its ability to hold long necked bottles and US standard cans. A critical update lies in the fact that this sturdy cup holder boasts reinforced stress areas at the top ring for extra support, yet comes with a longer printing time as a consequence. UPDATE: 05/14/2019 When using this crutch mounted beer holder, an interesting scenario unfolds. It turns out some standard crutches come equipped with a small tapering effect - from top to bottom they grow slightly smaller in diameter. Given this newfound understanding, we decided it's time for the release of a more tailored option - featuring a ~108mm center pole distance, along with its traditional 19mm diameter rod outer edge. Print this cup holder by first snapping it in between those vertical crutch posts. What some people find helpful is taking out their handle so that these aluminum parts can move slightly outward - you get the idea.
