Drill Press Centering Jig
thingiverse
I saw a round stock centering guide on Thingiverse but couldn't make it work for my drill press. My Craftsman drill press has a precise hole in the bed, so I redesigned using Fusion 360 to fit my machine perfectly. In addition to the redesign, I realized that drilling into this jig would likely require drilling down into the main piece. This could cause issues if the bottom of the jig is hollow infill, leading to it falling apart. To prevent this, I created a version in Fusion where the round base and main piece are separate parts. You can bring these two STLs into Cura, set the infill for the base at 100%, and then merge them together. If you download the version with the two STLs, you can scale the circular part to fit your drill press without scaling the main piece, then have Cura assemble the two pieces. To do this, note the Z-axis setting before scaling, type in the diameter of your drill press hole (in mm) into the "X" box, turn off Uniform Scaling, and type in the Z value you wrote down before scaling. This will give you the desired diameter without making the depth of the hole too deep or shallow. When finished scaling, right-click and Select All Models, then right-click again and Merge Models. I've also included the entire model as one body for those who don't want to go through this extra step. For those with Fusion 360, I've included the f3d file so you can modify it as you wish.
With this file you will be able to print Drill Press Centering Jig with your 3D printer. Click on the button and save the file on your computer to work, edit or customize your design. You can also find more 3D designs for printers on Drill Press Centering Jig.
