Drill Jig Bearing & Bolt Retainer
thingiverse
This incredible jig is based on an exceptional design. As I work on my parametric filament drive plans featuring a hobbed bolt, this component proves indispensable. However, there's an issue to address. My scripts accurately determine bolt length and part tolerances, but in this jig, hobbing the bolt at the farthest point for a snug fit isn't possible due to bearing placement constraints. To resolve this, simply rotate the jig parts; you can fit a nut next to the bearing. Nonetheless, be cautious as bearings may pop out. In response, I designed a bolt and bearing retainer, yet to be tested. My only concern is insufficient clearance for the bolt; I had to use a Dremel to create a channel. I'll modify the source files accordingly. After using it, I discovered that widening the bolt head channel would perfect this retainer. I'll share photos later and proudly admit my inexperience with hobbing bolts, but this retainer works flawlessly!
