Drill-guide for half-round rods
thingiverse
Need to precision-drill a hole in the flat side of a half-round? Want it to be precise in depth and position? Look no further! This customizable drill guide, easy to attach to a table or workbench, lets you control your drill and make repeatable holes. I used this to create a set of magnetic wooden poster holders, using 3mm thick magnets that I was able to glue in after drilling with it. The STL file is for the guide I used, drilling with an 8mm drill 3mm into the stick. I had to clean the print a bit to get the stick through, but having it be a little tight is good for avoiding movement. It's best to make sure your stick can go all the way through to every hole you need to drill. Tip: Put your drill bit all the way in your drill, then measure its length. Adjust the guide to be a few millimeters shorter, and put a wider washer on top when drilling, so you don't dig into the guide when drilling.
