Its intended purpose is to complement a drill such as the one featured on http://www.harborfreight.com/38-in-variable-speed-reversible-close-quarters-drill-60610.html . A revision 2 was implemented, resulting in the flattening of the largest side; however, it can always be rotated to eliminate the need for supports.
