So, cars sitting in the sun get extremely hot, all metal gear knobs are a nightmare! I had my car parked for about 30 minutes in direct sunlight on a scorching hot day. When I got back to leave, I couldn't manage to hold onto the gear knob because it was glowing red-hot from the sun - I burnt my hand badly because it was so hot. This has happened to me a few times before, but never this bad, so I had to take action. Here's a simple gear knob cooler/cosy that I've come up with. It's a double-walled, air gap structure that slips over the solid metal DRiFT gear knob. It keeps direct sunlight off the knob and has a few vent holes in the bottom for temperature/pressure variations due to heat - it's not entirely necessary, but why not? The first revision was slightly too tight, so this one is slightly larger - it's a loose fit over the knob, but it gets the job done. It keeps the knob at an acceptable temperature - during the day, it'll still get hot, but nowhere near as hot as without it! It might even have warming properties in colder months and climates. And to top it all off, it glows in the dark so it charges up during the day and emits a nice soft blue glow at night. This is specifically designed for the gear knob pictured - nothing else will work.
