Drew's Rostock - Skeleton Head
thingiverse
This latest modification features a minimalistic hot end carriage for my Rostock-derived 3D printer, housing components like three mini 20mm fans, LEDs, and the J-head hot end itself. Due to differing delta platform geometry, I shifted the rod end holes on the carriage, reducing its size and weight. However, this part cannot be directly used on a standard Rostock without adjusting the printer's geometry accordingly. Assembling the parts requires a SMC KQ2H04-01AS push-fit connector for the Bowden tube in the 'Upper' part, followed by pressing the larger hole of 'Upper' over the J-head and aligning three smaller holes with Clip's three holes. Attach the parts using three 3mm screws and hex nuts on angled posts of the 'Lower' part. Three M3 threaded rods, each 80mm long, pass through Lower's outer holes and Traxxis rod ends on connecting rods. Washers between plastic and rod ends prevent movement. Three 20mm fans are attached to the carriage's underside for improved bridging performance, while LED pockets aid in troubleshooting. Wire management is crucial, with the heater, thermister, and power lines for fans and LEDs running through Upper's outer holes. Despite this design being specific to my printer, it serves as a reference for creating custom mods on other Rostock models.
