This filament winder is specifically designed for Dremel brand spools. Using my Dremel 3D45 printer has revealed that most of their spools come wound too tightly from the factory, resulting in print failures. The winder includes inserts tailored to fit different Dremel Spools and allows you to transfer filament from one spool to another. This also gives you the ability to wind third-party filament onto a Dremel spool. Please note that Dremel does not recommend using third-party filament in their machines. I believe Dremel has done a good job with their materials and settings, but they only offer limited colors in ABS and PETG at this point. The secondary spool holder in the image was downloaded from Thingiverse! Parts: - Spool Base Bottom - one is required, I used a countersink drill bit to countersink the fasteners. - Spool Base Side - two are needed, glue is not required when it's attached to the Spool Base Bottom, but I added glue for extra strength. - Spool Axle - one is required - Spool Handle - one is required - print using supports, it slides onto the Axle and the last 1/4" is friction fit. I added a touch of glue and used a mallet to tap the Axle into the handle. - Spool Axle End - one is required - it slides onto the Axle and the last 1/8" is friction fit. You can print with support or flip it over and print without support. - Spool Insert Small - two are needed - designed to fit older Dremel Spools, friction fit so they don't fall out, use the Axle to push them out of the spool when finished. - Spool Insert Large RFID - one is required - designed for new Dremel Spools with an RFID sensor, friction fit so they don't fall out, use the Axle to push them out of the spool when finished. - Spool Insert Large - one is required - designed to fit the backside of the new Dremel RFID Spool, (the diameter is slightly larger on the backside), friction fit so they don't fall out, use the Axle to push them out of the spool when finished. - Spool Accessory - optional - two are needed - used to organize and keep the Spool Inserts in place, I used a countersink drill bit to countersink the fasteners.
