Dremel | Rotary Tool | Sanding, Drilling and More!
thingiverse
I wanted to build a dremel just like RCLifeOn made and shared (this is my take on that). However, I made the same mistake many others did - I bought the motor he suggested, but it was too big for me. To fix this, I simply designed a larger casing that could accommodate the bigger motor. Making a DIY Dremel Tool involves some minor sanding to fit the nozzle onto the dremel body and spending time sanding down the motor shaft to attach the copper chuck. The build should be relatively straightforward, and you can use this video as a reference: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GPZ4UL3w_HY&t=6s. If you want to make your own sander from scratch, you'll need an aluminum bar and some sandpaper. The aluminum bar will go through one of the collets and a hole in the sanding drum. To power it up, cut and strip a circular port and connect the two wire ends into a 5A speed controller. You'll also need to superglue the sandpaper onto the drum. Here are the supplies you'll need to buy: Power Adapter: https://www.ebay.com/itm/12V-2A-LED-Light-Strip-Power-Supply-24W-AC-Adapter-SMD-3528-5630-5050/162796211199?hash=item25e7690bff:g:AIQAAOSwF09ZanEH 5A Speed Controller: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01AY6NUJW/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o07_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Copper Chuck: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B074GLBTR1/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o06_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Motor: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Electric-RS-550-Motor-12V-21000RPM-High-Speed-550-Size-DC-Motor-QH/292320515601?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649 Aluminum Bar To Make Sander: https://www.walmart.com/ip/K-and-S-Rod-3-32-X-12-Aluminum-Carded/101032805 This project should cost around $25 in total.
