Dremel Plunge Router with screw-on bushing
thingiverse
I loved the original plunge router made by blokkendoos, but it had limitations that I needed to overcome. I required precise slots in boxes and his router lacked a crucial bushing, which was a major setback. The guide plate also needed to remain stationary at all times, but unfortunately, its bolt moved excessively when trying to route straight lines. It had to be secured firmly like a true anchor. To upgrade the router, I turned to Fusion 360 for help. I added a bushing, a second height adjustment bolt, and holders on the bottom plate that locked down the bolts. Using this modified version, I was able to precision-cut holes into a box with ease, just as if I had a high-end plunge router in my hands. The only difference was that I was using a Dremel tool. Here's what you need: * 2 x 4-inch 1/4-20 bolts with partial threading for smooth guide plate movement * 2 x 2-inch 1/4-20 bolts with full threading for precise height adjustment * 6 x 1/4-20 nuts, 2 for each height adjustment bolt and 2 for the bottom plate * 4 x 1/4-20 sleeves for the guide plate and bottom plate; be prepared to use a rat tail file to fit them snugly * 2 x M3x30mm bolts as handles for the guide plate * 2 x M3 nuts for securing handle bolts on the guide plate * 2 x M2.5 short machine screws for the bolt holder lids Don't worry about the mix of imperial and metric bolts; I've managed to navigate through space without a hitch! The bushing is a standard 20mm diameter, 9mm tall. Thanks again to blokkendoos for their original design.
