Dremel Mill XY table mesurement system, Drag reduced
thingiverse
I adapted the Dremel mill XY table to make precise distance measurements effortless. The numbers on the wheel clearly indicate 1/10mm increments, while the scale on the segment is conveniently marked with each line representing a full millimeter. To build this modification, you'll need at least two parts for most components, except for handles and T-nuts, which should be selected based on your specific application. In some areas, the fit might be slightly tight; in such cases, smoothing out the dovetail and scale of the segment using a grinder will help. For optimal results, use three M6 nuts and secure the shroud to the middle section. If necessary, turn it to achieve a minimal tolerance fit using a hand drill or lathe. A 22mm mall bearing can also be used, such as an old skateboard bearing. To fix the shroud to the wheel, simply screw it on with an M3 screw, allowing you to zero out the wheel at any time. However, make sure to drill a 3mm hole beforehand, as it's slightly undersized to create a snug fit or force the screw into the plastic to create your own thread. The segment's low-drag design features a rounded corner in the dovetail for easier fitting and smoother movement. If you like my modifications, feel free to share them with others.
