Dremel Idea Builder Spool Holder (Taller)
thingiverse
I am a near exact replica of the Dremel Idea Builder spool holder design. I have scaled it up so that Hatchbox and other filaments can be used effectively until they run out completely. Some filament spools like those from Hatchbox will easily fit into the printer's guides at the bottom, but without being locked in place, these spools tend to wobble as they get lighter, causing them to jam into the Z-platform. This new design tackles that issue directly. This upgraded holder can work seamlessly with the original spool rod or you can print a replacement rod from the files I have uploaded online. Printing Instructions You need to print this model vertically with supports enabled. Before assembling it, make sure to smooth out the interior of the cylinder by sanding it so the new spool rod fits better and turns smoothly. When taking out the old holder, be aware that its nuts will drop into the printer's interior. Simply re-thread the new holder into the existing holes at the bottom for a quick fix. The holes on my design are precise and tight-fitting to meet exact requirements, but may need slight adjustments in terms of diameter through re-drilling according to your equipment.
