Dremel D-vice Base

Dremel D-vice Base

I had this vise collecting dust in my workshop for nearly a decade. Every day, I'd procrastinate on building an oak base for it, using my trusty mantra: "Put off until next week what you can put off till tomorrow." When I finally invested in a 3D printer, I knew this project would be the perfect challenge. Designing from a picture of the original I found online was a breeze; everything except the ball required no supports. Speaking of the ball, its hexagonal shape fits snugly into place - almost too tightly, actually. A little file work might be necessary to achieve a looser fit. The first time I assembled the vise, I had to use a pry bar to remove it, which was not what I had in mind. This design is intended for screw-down assembly, but I plan on adding a larger base later on.
