Dremel®-clone rotary tool to 43mm drill press adapter (cheap alternative to Dremel Workstation)
thingiverse
There are numerous drill presses available that come with a 43mm holder, compatible with standard household drills. They start at $10 and are made of steel, ideal for creating holes at a precise 90-degree angle. You can easily find them at your local hardware store. I designed an adapter to fit a rotary tool onto those 43mm drill presses. The inside diameter is 18mm with a 2mm thread step, accommodating most Chinese clones of Dremel and probably the Dremel 4000 as well. This results in a much more affordable alternative to the "Dremel Workstation 220". After installation on the drill press, it's perfect for making multiple holes in PCBs at an exact 90-degree angle with minimal effort. The adapter is designed to allow you to screw it on while the chuck and drill bit are already in place, keeping the lock button accessible. Screw the adapter onto the drill press and install it in the 43mm holder instead of a household drill as shown in the picture. Unlike heavy drills that weigh at least 2 kg, rotary tools are much lighter, preventing the press from wobbling: This is how it looks with a rotary tool screwed into place instead of a drill: Print Settings Printer Brand: Ultimaker Printer: Ultimaker Original Rafts: Doesn't Matter Supports: No Infill: 100% Notes: As this piece must withstand significant pressure and vibration, it's recommended to print with maximum infill. Custom Section Important note on threading Some engravers feature 18x2 threading, while others use 19x1.5. The situation is similar to that of the main axle - clones of Dremel have M8x0.75 threading, whereas original Dremels use M7(9/32"). Be sure to double-check which one your engraver has before printing. Mine fits my clone perfectly.
