Kind of based off of another model but I modelled everything myself. This isn't the most elegant solution for holding 3rd party spools but it has produced the least amount of resistance for filament for my prints so far. I hold open the top of the lid slightly with a sponge and taped down the front corners to keep it 'enclosed'. This leaves a small gap for the filament to run through and go straight into the extruder (avoids long unnecessary loops that add friction). The only downside is sometimes when the extruder goes all the way along the long axis, it can push the filament back and the filament can get caught outside of the spool. I printed with cheap PLA with 50% infill, 0.34mm layer height and it's very stiff and sturdy.
