Dremel 3D40 Filament Door Latch
thingiverse
The 3D40's filament door latch is extremely susceptible to breaking when opening due to insufficient support for forces pushing against the latch as it breaks free and slams backward into its socket edge. The latch features a long support designed to mitigate this weakness, with my latest design proving successful in testing without any breakages. If you print this item and experience failure, I'd greatly appreciate photos or a detailed description of the failure so I can further refine the design for improved reliability. For optimal results, I recommend printing this part with 100% infill to enhance its strength. Additionally, using a raft is crucial as this item prints on its backside, requiring a smooth surface for proper adhesion when glued to the preceding support of the broken part on the door itself. Design updates are currently underway to incorporate supports on both sides, addressing scenarios where the entire support may detach from the door when the original latch fails. Print Settings: Printer: Dremel IdeaBuilder 3D40 Rafts: Yes Supports: No Infill: 100% Post-Printing Attachment: To secure the part in place, I suggest utilizing superglue to attach it where the previous part once was. Depending on the fit, you may need to trim or sand the end of the notch to reduce friction when engaging with the ridge on the printer door receiver socket. Design Details: This design was created using Tinkercad's basic shapes and a single hole to craft the notch.
