DREM Mount for Emulator II+HD
cults3d
This is a bracket designed specifically to mount a DREM hard drive emulator within the E-mu Emulator II+HD sampling keyboard. Additionally, it can be used in any situation where a single height 5.25" drive bay is required for mounting a DREM. I produced the bracket and front panel using black ABS plastic, while the lenses were made from clear PET-G. Assembly instructions are as follows: 1) Print the bracket and front panel, then thoroughly clean all holes. 2) With proper anti-static precautions in place, dry-assemble the front to the bracket (it should be a friction fit), test fitting the DREM. Make sure the snapshot button does not bind. 3) Prepare the front panel overlay by printing it on a color laser printer and applying matte lamination vinyl for added scratch resistance. 3M transfer tape was used on the back of the overlay, resulting in an acceptable outcome although room for improvement exists. 4) Attach the overlay to the front panel and use a sharp X-acto knife to cut out all holes. 5) Print four lenses using clear PET-G plastic; they are intentionally longer than necessary to accommodate potential stringiness issues with this material. Trim them flush with the inside surface of the front panel. 6) Insert the lenses, applying a small amount of solvent cement (such as Plastruct Plastic Weld or MEK) on the inside for secure adhesion. 7) Glue the front panel to the bracket using solvent cement. 8) Mount the DREM using four #4x3/8" screws. 9) Finally, mount the assembly in the Emulator II. Special thanks go out to PortaOne, Inc. for creating the DREM and to ///E-Synthesist for developing the EXMP software. Their contributions are invaluable in keeping this exceptional musical instrument alive. Additional resources: DREM: https://www.drem.info/ EXMP: http://users.skynet.be/emxp/index.htm
