Drela AG04 Airfoil Micro Drone Propeller (34.81g thrust @ 3V)
thingiverse
The propeller was carefully crafted based on the **Drela AG04** airfoil coordinates, a precise model that has been widely used in various applications. All testing procedures were conducted using the **Drone Propeller Thrust Tester**, an innovative device designed for evaluating thrust levels. To ensure high-quality prints, I utilized a **0.2 extruder nozzle** at a slow speed of 0.04 layer height. After printing, I employed a **Precision Knife** to remove any excess material, resulting in a smooth surface finish. Next, I sanded the propeller using a piece of **400 grit sandpaper**, carefully removing any imperfections and achieving an even texture. The thrust readings for various voltage presets are as follows (also visible in the accompanying photographs): - At **1.5V**, the propeller produced a significant thrust force of **9.36 grams**. - With a voltage setting of **2V**, the thrust reading increased to **19.55 grams**. - When operating at **2.5V**, the propeller yielded an impressive thrust of **27.07 grams**. - Finally, at **3V**, the thrust force reached an astonishing **34.81 grams**. The attached files include all relevant images from the test, along with six text files containing airfoil coordinates, printable STL files, and SLDPRT files for further modification. If you're interested in customizing or improving the propeller's performance, I recommend acquiring a set of **8520 coreless motors**, which are available online. These high-performance motors will enable you to explore new possibilities with your propeller design. For making any changes to the original design, I suggest using the SLDPRT files provided. This will allow you to experiment and fine-tune the propeller's configuration to suit your specific needs. **P.S.** The airfoil was plotted using the matplotlib library in Python, a powerful tool for data visualization and analysis.
