Dreamflight Libelle DLG Motor Kit Folding Engine
thingiverse
It's frustrating to toss your DGL because it's too lightweight to achieve sufficient altitude quickly enough. Put a motor on it. It doesn't climb well, but it does climb. My setup uses two 550mAh LiPo batteries connected in parallel (1S2P) and a tiny ESC with a small brushed motor. When you give the plane power, the arm folds up, and you can climb to some height. If you hit thermal turbulence, shut off the engine, and it will fold back without causing any issues. Parts: In addition to the printed parts, you'll need: * 2 M3 bolts and nuts to secure the motor * 1 M4 bolt to attach the plane * Battery: https://banggood.app.link/mZJ7UbBCQ5 * ESC: https://banggood.app.link/FyQzAYICQ5 * Props: https://banggood.app.link/N3WcSsGCQ5 * Engine: https://banggood.app.link/FfsdGUHCQ5 Make sure the joint moves smoothly and remains clean. If it doesn't, the airstream won't be able to fold back the engine, resulting in a nice airbrake. It's wise to calibrate the center of gravity with the folding engine so soaring is easier.
