This is fun, it works so good and easy I want to share. Watch the videos: https://youtu.be/1ZVUmNwovrY https://youtu.be/8I7uNFzRI80 It's real time. How to: - Fix a ball-pen on your print-head - Download Inkscape - Download and install J-Tech Photonics Inkscape Laser Plug-In: https://jtechphotonics.com/?page_id=2012 - Set Inkscape document dimensions to printbed size - Draw or place some paths (set view mode to outline to see what will be drawn) - Generate gcode using the plugin For "Laser ON Command" paste into the plugin window: G91 G1 Z-1.0 G90 For "Laser OFF Command" paste: G91 G1 Z+1.0 G90 This moves Z up and down 1 mm relative to actual position. I edit g-code manual just to remove first z + command because I want to start over the paper in off position, and I remove last X0 Y0 because I start with manual moved axis without reference and don't want it to crash full speed in the end-stops at the end. - Placing: In Inkscape measure coordinates of the element you want to place Move printer x y to these coordinates Place paper under pen or move axis manual(by hand steppers off) over paper where it should be drawn I use Repetier-Host for this, you can move the axis, send custom g-code commands like M18 to turn axis off, and drag the laser g-code and print it direct so you don't need swapping SD-Card. Tuning: I tuned up printer settings speed since we don't have to wait for the filament to be placed this could go very fast. So if you are bored making or run out of filament or waiting for your laser head just try to strap a pen on your printer. My first printer CTC i3 Pro B Mainboard is broken so the extruder stepper does not work, now it's back alive.
