I designed custom drawer locks for my camper van drawers. A straightforward yet highly effective solution was achieved through a simple design. The insert for each drawer features a large opening on its exterior and a smaller hole (6.5 mm) on the interior, which ensures that the knob self-centers effortlessly. Each lock consists of two main components: a drawer insert and an outer insert, plus a knob that secures in place with a 6mm hexagonal bolt. The length of the bolt is determined by the total thickness of the materials involved. To assemble these locks, start by drilling small pilot holes through both the outer cupboard and the drawer site. Then, carefully enlarge each hole to accommodate the inserts. Finally, use your 3D printer to create the outer insert after scaling it up slightly in your slicer software (105%).
