Draped Seated Woman
myminifactory
The bronze statue captures a mysterious seated woman, her body swathed in fabric. Draped Seated Woman was acquired in 1962 through London County Council's Patronage of the Arts Scheme for the Stifford Estate in Stepney. In 1997, when demolition loomed for the estate's high-rise buildings, the statue was relocated to Yorkshire Sculpture Park for safekeeping. In 2015, Tower Hamlets' new Mayor vowed to return the sculpture to its original home and Cabot Square was chosen as a temporary residence. The restoration of this significant piece of artistic heritage has been funded by Canary Wharf Group on behalf of London Borough of Tower Hamlets.
