Dragonfly tile (Type 4*2)

thingiverse

This tile boasts a unique combination of rotational and mirror symmetry, placing it squarely within the 4*2 symmetry group. As such, it features one prominent point of rotational symmetry of order 4, as well as another pivotal point where two intersecting mirror lines converge. The design owes a significant debt to M.C. Escher's groundbreaking works on symmetry. Carefully crafted in openSCAD for an assignment in the Math through 3D Printing course at George Mason University during Fall '19, this project was overseen by the accomplished Dr. Evelyn Sander.
