Dragonflies take center stage among insects belonging to the Order Odonata, Infraorder Anisoptera (stemming from Greek words anisos, unequal, and pteron, wing). Unmistakable traits include adult dragonflies' enormous, multifaceted eyes, robust wings with colored patches and two strong, transparent sets, accompanied by an extended body. Although resembling the connected group of damselflies (Zygoptera), with identical structural attributes but often lighter builds, dragonflies exhibit unique behaviors: they unfurl their wings flat and outward from their bodies when at rest. On the other hand, most damselflies hold their wings folded against their abdomens. Dragonflies stand out as swift fliers while displaying weak, fluttering flights like the more modest damselfly.
