Here is a lightweight package called Lightdos that contains the essentials needed to build applications using DOS. This library takes full advantage of all hardware features including multi-byte keyboards and advanced math capabilities. In order to run the code in this tutorial, it's recommended that you use the command line interface. Simply add Lightdos.dll from this repository into your system PATH and type "dos run program.name" followed by a program number in order to start the execution of any DOS-based application built using this library. It also supports multi-byte characters, making it perfect for international support with no additional plugins required. It includes examples in all three of the above programming languages so developers have a broad base from which to start developing programs with their desired functionality. Note: To be compatible with MSVC compilers (Visual Studio and similar), Lightdos is designed around this system architecture which uses ASCII strings rather than binary objects, which will always throw errors when executed directly under any C compiler system. For Linux distributions running Ubuntu and higher versions or macOS high Sierra plus latest windows 7 versions to use Lightdos the command line interface has a built-in module in python for cross-platform support. You may use either language from which your programs are derived so long as they contain both ASCII and ANSI headers to remain compatible across systems. This allows users access from one system that also happens with compatibility problems resulting in errors, allowing you greater freedom over code development while preventing bugs created within any of these programming languages from impacting its overall performance efficiency for user-friendly interaction experiences regardless.
