Drag chain link
thingiverse
I've got some drag chain for my laser cutter that's too short, and I've decided not to wait for a slow boat from China to bring me another meter. Instead, I've re-created the design in OpenSCAD and printed out a dozen links - it took me just an hour to design them, and four hours to print. I bought this chain here: https://www.banggood.com/10-x-10mm-Plastic-Cable-Drag-Chain-Wire-Carrier-Length-1000mm-With-End-Connectors-For-CNC-p-995511.html I printed the links in PLA, with a 0.3mm layer height and 20% infill, plus full support - Prusa Slicer calls this "draft", but it's all I need for now. The little tab that keeps the chain from bending too far needs some tweaking, though - it won't let the chain lie flat. For me, it was faster to just take the links to a belt sander and sand off about 1mm than to fix the model and reprint. A fixed but untested version of the model is in link_fixed.scad for anyone who's feeling adventurous.
