Draft-E
thingiverse
This is Draft-E, my senior project from college. I had plenty of time to think through the design and implementation before actually making it happen. For those unfamiliar, Draft-E is essentially Wall-E, but with a name that pays homage to my alma mater's welding department - they built their own version called Weld-E, so I thought Draft-E would be a pretty funny fit. Feel free to modify, print, and color this however you see fit; just please share your creations or suggestions for making Draft-E even better. How I Designed This As a newcomer to 3D printing, this was my first attempt at something complex, so it's still a bit rough around the edges. If you're feeling adventurous, try tweaking the design - one thing that might help is splitting the main body into two halves or experimenting with print orientation. When I initially tried printing it on my Maker Bot, the extruder kept getting clogged due to excessive material, so I ended up printing the body in two parts and gluing them together. With some modeling putty and paint, it looks like a single piece now. As for the arms, I had originally planned for them to move along the side of Draft-E's body, but due to concerns, I filled in some areas - except I forgot to remove the bolt holders from the body. Maybe you can salvage those and make his arms functional. Draft-E stands at just over 7.5 inches tall. His body doubles as a drawer. The paint job was inspired by Johnny 5's aesthetic.
