This is a 3D printed case for Ross Porter's incredible DQ Music Box project, which can be found on Hackaday. This case was designed specifically for Altec Lansing BXR1220 2-Piece Desktop Speaker Systems, which can be purchased online for $15. The design of this box originated from Thingiverse, a platform that allows users to share and download 3D printing designs. The specific design used for this project is available at https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1264391. Note that the two round holes in the back are designed to accommodate audio cables. The cable from the speaker can be routed through one of these holes, allowing it to plug directly into the Raspberry Pi without any additional wiring. Design note: It can be challenging to remove the USB stick from its housing, but this is a rare occurrence. To make removal easier, users may consider reorienting the Pi or adding extensions for audio and power cables, which would allow them to run these cables out of the back of the box. Alternatively, they could use a USB extension cable. Technical note: Users who plan to build this project should be aware that I encountered an issue with my Raspberry Pi B V2 when playing 800 files at once. This problem was resolved by converting the files to MP3 format and shortening their filenames to approximately 10 characters in length. It is possible that the long filenames were the cause of the issue, but I will never know for certain as I am delivering the project to my mother.
