Downward Blower Duct for Replicator 2

Downward Blower Duct for Replicator 2

I have discovered that when printing PLA, on certain parts where even cooling is crucial, the standard blower duct on the Replicator 2 proves inadequate. The duct favors right-to-left movement over left-to-right motion along the X axis, resulting in uneven cooling patterns. To address this issue, I embarked on designing a custom blower duct that directs airflow downwards for more consistent cooling. After several iterations, my latest design appears to have achieved the desired outcome. As proof of concept, I printed an enhanced version of the Make Magazine Torture Test using my redesigned blower duct, and the results are compelling. While there was some excess stringing that obscures the final result, no dangling material was observed on the overhangs except for the arch, which had a moderate amount. UPDATE (August 31, 2013): I have since added a small gusset to the design to provide extra stiffness when printing in Nylon.
