This design showcases a sustainable future city that generates energy for its citizens by harnessing nuclear power. One of my students crafted this innovative concept as a result of lessons learned in class, where we explored modeling 3D buildings with Tinkercad and tackled the challenge of designing a city 100 years into the future. Here's how they approached it: 1. They researched cities and what makes them tick. 2. Brainstormed current city problems that need solving. 3. Picked a problem, conducted further research, and wrote a detailed description of their futuristic city. 4. Used Tinkercad to bring their 3D vision to life, showcasing their solution to the chosen issue. 5. Revised and refined their design to better address the problem at hand. Designing a City 100 Years in the Future Objectives: Students will apply science and technology to create innovative solutions for current city problems by designing futuristic cities. Audience: Seventh-grade students with prior experience in research, brainstorming, and Tinkercad proficiency. Preparation: Before embarking on this project, students have: * Conducted extensive research * Brainstormed ideas and defined a specific problem to tackle * Familiarized themselves with Tinkercad to create 3D models Steps: Following the engineering design process, students worked in teams or individually to develop their futuristic city designs. They combined science and technology using a STEM approach. Results: Students successfully designed and refined their futuristic cities in Tinkercad, addressing the specific issues they identified. This project demonstrates the effective application of science and technology to create innovative solutions for current urban challenges.
