Downlight spacer

Downlight spacer

We replaced smaller downlights recently, which could have required plastering, painting, and redrilling. Fortunately, these spacers fill the larger hole and look classy on a white ceiling by adding another dimension to the lights. The 76mm hole called for an 80mm surround; I created a recess for the surround to sit flush in by overlapping it by 10mm. To form a 3mm step facing downwards, I used cardboard and platform tape, paused the printer, inserted my spacer, then unpaused to complete the print. At 230C extruder temp and 110C platform temp on my Replicator, I used only 10% fill for reduced heat transfer, which has proven effective as there's been no melting or smell of warm ABS after two days of use.
