It's generally more effective to print PLA. On my printer, ABS has shown a tendency to delaminate from the build platform. The midsection printed with a flat surface. For backlighting, I'm using 12 pieces of 5mm LEDs and 3 AA batteries. Inside the walls, foil is applied for insulation.
