dowel maker
thingiverse
This is a massive pencil sharpener essentially designed to transform a 10mm dowel from a 10mm x 10mm square wooden blank.\r\n\r\nThe blade is comprised of three sections from a box cutter knife.\r\n\r\nUnfortunately, it doesn't work that well. I've largely given up on it and returned to my trusty wooden one which mounts directly onto a table saw. It's available for anyone else interested in continuing the project.\r\n\r\nThe main issues are that it is incredibly finicky to assemble, and the plastic will degrade rapidly.\r\n\r\nI calculate the shape of the wire frame representing the blade using a spreadsheet, then load the python commands from the FreeCAD python console.\r\n\r\nIt might be better to design this in OpenSCADA.
