First and foremost, make sure you have the latest version of SolidWorks installed on your computer. This will ensure that you have access to all the necessary tools and features required for dovetailing stops. Next, launch SolidWorks and create a new part file. Name it something descriptive, such as "Dovetail Stop." Now, click on the "Features" tab in the top menu bar and select "Extruded Cut." This will open up a dialog box where you can specify the details of your cut. In this dialog box, select the "Circular" option for the cut type. Then, enter the radius of your dovetail stop in the "Radius" field. Make sure to set the "Height" and "Depth" fields accordingly, depending on your specific design requirements. With both the circular cut and conical hole features in place, your dovetail stop is starting to take shape. To add some final details, click on the "Features" tab once more and select "Face." This will open up a dialog box where you can specify the details of your face feature. In this dialog box, select the "Plane" option for the face type. Then, enter the coordinates of your face in the respective fields. Make sure to set the "Normal" field accordingly, depending on your specific design requirements. After you've entered all the necessary information, click "OK" to apply the face feature to your part file. And that's it! Your dovetail stop is now complete and ready for use in your SolidWorks designs.
