Dovetail Heart Locket
prusaprinters
I designed this as a gift for my SO, then figured it couldn't hurt to share, so here it is. All in all it is a very simple dovetail locket with what is supposed to be a retaining pin, just using 1.75 mm filament. Personally, to preserve detail, especially with all of the small relief paths and fillets added, I try to print at the smallest layer heights possible , however, it should be noted that .2mm works in general at least for prototyping, got a satisfactory print with 0.08mm. I for one needed a decent amount of post processing, especially around the retaining pin hole, clearing that out and adding small chamfers manually, even though they are included in the model itself. another place that should have attention payed to it should be the dovetails, relief grooves and fillets may/probably need some attention, just rounding them out or clearing them out in the case of the relief pathways. other than that the only extra things I did was a little bit of touchup such as sanding and running a sharp blade over some spots to attempt to clear up imperfections. since this was sliced in sura for me I just used lightning infill at 15% which I know is a bit overkill, and I believe 5 perimeters. Might end up doing follow-ups or revisions, but not sure, print and I hope you all enjoy P.S. the photos at the end are printed in Hatchbox Matte Navy, with nail polish applied as an experiment to see how it would turn out. 4/23/22-simple expansion of the storage cavity
