dovetail grout holder (mini rebar) for corners of tiled walls
thingiverse
In the bathroom, the walls are encased with ceramic tile. There exist a couple of outside corners where special round-nose tiles weren't utilized; instead, a gap was left and filled with sanded grout. After 35 years, the grout began to crack and fall out from those corners. I created these pieces using special settings in skeinforge, allowing for no shells, only very low-percentage infill, so they resemble trusswork, extremely porous. I attached them to the edges of the tiles with epoxy, holding them in place with masking tape while the adhesive dried, and then ripped off the tape, redoing the grout, which was impregnated into the plastic trusswork. I'm confident it won't fall out anymore. The plastic is completely concealed, so you can't see it after completion. The dovetailed ends simply help to hold them together while they're being glued in place.
