Douglas F-6 Skyray (originally Douglas F4D Skyray) The last naval fighter produced by Douglas before its merger with McDonnell was the Douglas F-6 Skyray. This delta wing aircraft possessed supersonic capabilities and had a relatively short lifespan with the US Navy, serving from 1956 to 1964 without ever engaging in combat. However, the F-6 Skyray made history by becoming the first carrier-based aircraft to hold the world's absolute speed record.
