The DC-9-20 model is provided in various liveries. The series 50 (DC-9-50) was an extended version of the DC-9-40 with an additional 8'2" to the center fuselage, accommodating up to 125 passengers. Powered by 2 Pratt and Whitney JT8D-15 or JT8D-17 engines, these provided 16000 or 16500 pounds thrust each. Deliveries began in 1975 with the first going to Eastern Airlines, making it the largest variant of the Douglas DC-9 aircraft family. A military version, the C-9-50, was built for US armed forces. Post Douglas Aircraft acquisition by McDonnell, several variants were developed as the MD-80, 81,82,83,84,85,86,87,88,89,90. Finally, Boeing purchased McDonnell Douglas and created the Boeing 717 as the last variant.
