The textured model features animatable turbines, flaps, ailerons, rudder, elevators, and landing gear that can be hidden for "gear up" flight. Constructed near-to-scale, it is available in several formats. The Douglas DC-8, rival of the 707 series, was developed concurrently and shared similar design and capabilities. First flying in 1957, DC-8s had a good safety record and were used on primary routes until late '70s. Many were later converted to freight carriers, with some still operating today over 50 years after their introduction.
