The fully textured model includes animateable turbines, flaps, ailerons, rudder, elevators, and landing gear with the option to hide landing gear during flight. Built near to scale, this model is available in various formats. As a rival of the 707 series, the Douglas DC-8 was developed concurrently and shared similar design and capabilities. First flying in 1957, these aircraft boasted a good safety record and were used on major airline routes until the late '70s. Many were later converted for freight service, with some still flying in a cargo role over five decades after their initial development.
